THE ROYAL GUARD CHARTER

(5 February 2000)

The Royal Guard is comprised of two Guards:

  • Kings Guard (KKG)
  • Queens Guard (KQG)

Members of the Royal Guard must be Eternal Knights, sworn to the King and Queen.

DUTY OF THE ROYAL GUARD

  • Bodyguard: To protect the King and Queen, both physically and verbally.
  • Ceremonial: To provide escort duty for the King and Queen.
  • Guard: To guard the Audience Chamber from unwelcome visitors.
JUDICIAL COURT
The Royal Guard will act with our Authority, in the matter of minor guild infringements of our Law, and in the carrying out of warranted punishment.

The Royal Guard does not have jurisdiction over Eternal Knights, and holds its office primarily for those of lower rank. However, if there is cause for an Eternal Knight to be brought to justice, then the Royal Guard will form the court at which the King and Queen will sit in judgment.
Members of the Royal Guard can be called upon to discipline lower ranks for minor offences, either singly or as a panel of judges.
The Royal Guard has jurisdiction if immediate action is warranted. In the event that the incident is serious, and neither the King nor Queen are available, then the Royal Guard can take action. Their decision will be ratified if proved correct later.
Punishment up to demotion of a lower rank can be awarded by any Royal Guard member.
Suspension can be given temporarily until the King and Queen are able to hear the case and determine the final verdict.
If any member of the guild feels the punishment meted out by a member of the Royal Guard is unwarranted, or too severe, they have the right to appeal to higher authority.

SOLDIERS of the Royal Guard
Four members will be selected from the divisions to be attached to the Royal Guard, two per Guard. They will perform guard duty and other minor roles within the Royal Guard for a period not exceeding two months. This should not affect their division status.

Soldiers will not hold any authority in any judicial process.

RETIREMENT
Membership of the Royal Guard is dependent upon the following criteria:
  • Activity. This will be evaluated from time to time, and if a member is unable to fulfil our requirements, they will be asked to retire in honour.
  • Loyalty to the King and Queen
  • Adherence to the Orders given by the King and Queen
  • Devotion to the EKC.

This Decree hath been signed and sealed by the King and Queen of the Eternal Knights of the Circle on the 5th Day of February, in the year Two Thousand.
